Meron's - City of Plattsburgh

This is definitely the go-to spot for any day of the week. It welcomes all ages and all kinds of people. They serve ice-cold beers and generously-sized mixed drinks. If you can't enjoy a good laugh with your drink here, then you can't find it anywhere else. The staff is outstanding and incredibly friendly.

I booked a 40th birthday party back in October for January and paid a $100 deposit. Now, just four weeks before the event, I received a phone call saying, "Oops, we overbooked." When I went in, the bartender showed me the calendar, which was completely empty, and she took all my information again. It turns out that the bartender had forgotten to enter my details, and they ended up booking someone else instead. Rather than honoring my reservation, they canceled my party. I'm absolutely furious. I will NEVER bring my business here again (this would have been my third time using their venue), and I will ensure that everyone hears about my experience. How inconsiderate! I just hope I can find another venue in time.

Meron's also has a restaurant aspect, which adds to its cozy atmosphere. There’s a decent-sized dining area, along with pool tables and dartboards if that’s your thing. During my visit, there were only about three other patrons, all absorbed in playing pool. But then again, it was a Tuesday night in the summer, which isn’t the most common time for a night out in that area. The music was blasting, though, which felt unnecessary given the lack of customers that night. My friends and I struggled to chat over the loud sounds of "Crash Into Me." Now, I’m no expert since I visited on a weeknight when many college students were away, but it was truly nice and relaxing to be there, just enjoying a drink with two of my oldest friends. There were no meat-market vibes or sketchy patrons in sight. However, my friends mentioned that during a previous visit to Meron's, they were approached by a scruffy guy and his friend in a wheelchair. I guess I have terrible timing when it comes to planning my visits home!

Great neighborhood bar, you can go for a quiet drink, or hang out with everyone at the bar. You can even rent out there party room for special events. It's a great place.

This is a fantastic little bar. I had my first beer here with my grandfather, and it has maintained a great atmosphere over the years. Definitely worth a visit!
