La Foca Taqueria - City of New York

I used to live nearby a few years ago, and the food was always exceptional. However, I visited last week, and I was extremely disappointed with my experience. The food lacked flavor, and the quesadilla was subpar at best. I was truly baffled by the difference. The prices have increased, but the quality has definitely declined.

The restaurant is quite small, but the food is exceptional! As soon as I spotted the elderly woman cooking in the back, I had a feeling it would be delicious—and I was absolutely right!

The first and last taco shop/grocery store you should visit in Bushwick!

Ordered two tortas and asked for it to be warm.Got home and it was COLD, watery, barely any meat.Disappointing. Never going back there again.

Everything about this place is done right. A well maintained grocery store that leads to comfortable exclusive seating in front of a dining counter. The ladies behind the plastic veil of the counter conjure up some of the most remarkable homestyle food in all of Bushwick. It feels like you've entered someone's home and their grandma is whipping up lunch. I encourage you to try every protein option in every combination of medium available whether it be a taco or sopes or otherwise.
