Island Burger - City of New York

I love Island Burger.. one of the best quick bite Trini options in Brooklyn. There’s really no other like it around. Their chicken salad is good and also their fried chicken strips with steak fries. I usually top off my orders with either their delicious garlic sauce or tamarind sauce. You can get up to 4 sauce containers on the side, either all the same flavor or their other different flavors. I definitely would recommend and would order again. I wish they had buss up shut roti.

During my first visit yesterday, I had the chicken wings and fries, which were AMAZING. The wings were well-seasoned, but my only complaint was that they didn’t seem to be cleaned properly. There were tendons and fatty bits underneath the crust, which made it challenging to fully enjoy them. Today, I ordered the fried shrimp and fries. They were also well-seasoned, but the batter felt a bit too thin; it could use a thicker crust. Overall, it was still tasty. I also tried the mac and cheese, which had a salty cheese crust on top and creamy mac and cheese underneath. It looked great, but the flavor was a bit odd—slightly sweet with a spicy undertone. The mac and cheese itself needed more salt, while the cheese topping was too salty. It was okay, but I probably wouldn’t order it again. On the plus side, the combination of garlic sauce, tamarind sauce, and BBQ sauce is unbeatable! UPDATE: I think I might keep coming back until I’ve tried everything on the menu—and even then, I might not stop! The crispy chicken strips and sweet potato fries are absolute perfection! They are incredibly delicious and well-seasoned. I'm in love!

The fries were a little undercooked and a bit hard, but aside from that, this place did not disappoint. I usually order the grilled shrimp, but this time I decided to give the fried shrimp a try as well. The fried shrimp was really delicious!

I have to say, the fried shrimp was so amazing that I found myself craving more! I finished my meal hours ago, and I’m still thinking about the next time I can get it. The food also arrived surprisingly quickly, which is always a bonus. We requested extra garlic sauce for delivery, and it did not disappoint. The combination of the garlic sauce and shrimp was delicious! If I could just order a tray of fried shrimp on its own, I would be all for it! *licks lips* Overall, don’t hesitate to order from here!
