We got attracted because it was full with locals. You wont have views or luxury, but the food is good. You have the local speciality pescaito frito and all the other tapas from south Spain. Service is good and is very close to the beach. There are other better tapas places but if you dont find à place , this Will do.
We came in on a Sunday afternoon, round 15.45 h. First impression was a noisy place, with an somewhat overworked waiter. Once seated the waiter turned out to be a friendly man. As the size of a tapa can vary from a very small portion to a small main course, we ordered gambas and stuffed squid, and told the waiter that we would order more later (this seems to be a common way to do so). Gambas were excellent, stuffed squid was fine. As a main course we ordered some more fish. Only remark: when the waiter served the squid, he asked us to order a next course immediately, if we wanted one, because kitchen was closing now. Verdict: nice, good quality basic food, but we had to eat three courses faster then we are use to. It would have been nicer when the waiter told us that they where closing soon when we came in. But OK, we were very late to come in. We only payed 30 euros for the complete lunch and wine.
Conil is a great little place, fantastic beach, little cobbled streets and terrific seafood. We've stayed in Conil three times, and this little place is one of our favourite places to eat. Totally unpretentious, full of locals eating delicious food. It's tucked out of the way in Plaza Goya, and open in the evenings and lunchtimes from May 1st onwards. We were there the week before at the end of April, and he opened three times that week too. But I gather that's unusual we were just lucky ! His seafood is wonderful, prawns, langoustines, tuna, calamares, and his tapas are special too... much more authentic then many of the more trendy places...and all beautifully seasoned. House wine is very good, and the locals are friendly. We stayed in Conil for 8 days on this occasion, and seemed to be the only Brits in the place. For typical Andalucian food El Tebeito is definitely worth a visit.
