Les Etangs Gourmands - Chimay

We received a simple and warm welcome at this restaurant. The staff was friendly and attentive to our needs. We enjoyed dining on the terrace with a view of the pond in a peaceful and beautiful setting. The sea salad and trout were particularly delicious. The desserts, including thyme ice cream, handmade purple cream, burnt cream with speculo, and the signature ice cream "Lady of the Ponds," were all excellent and worth the price. This was our second visit and we will definitely be returning.

For Easter Sunday at noon, we made a reservation at Gourmet Ponds in the beautiful region of Chimay. At 12:30, we entered the restaurant and to our right was the bar. The bartender was talking to a customer and didn't acknowledge us for a few minutes. Finally, a waitress noticed us. The decor of the restaurant was beautiful, but unfortunately, that was the only positive aspect of our experience. The music was too loud, but thankfully they lowered it when we asked. For our aperitifs, we ordered a kir and a house cocktail, both of which were too weak. The soup, olives, and bread were good, but the pork rillette seemed overly processed. The menu was priced at 35€ and the portions were disappointing. The seafood salad lacked toast and the main dishes were poorly cooked and presented. The dessert was a small chocolate bomb. The wine was good but expensive. Overall, we paid 120€ for a meal where we left hungry. It's a shame to dine in such a beautiful location and not enjoy the food.

A very pleasant family restaurant in a nice frame of coma and a very exciting kitchen. One can make nice walls here, fish, mountain bike...
