Gelateria Sigismondi - CHIETI

Great ice cream bar ... fantastic breakfasts with homemade croissants. Exquisite ice cream masterfully prepared by Rosaria super professional. I suggest to try the aperitif also super delicious ... all at prices of other times.

Chieti is a nice town to wonder round and we were in need of something to cool us down! We went into this gelateria one early evening and sampled some very refreshing ice creams. You could really tell what flavour they were supposed to be! I had lemon,melon and strawberry and it was a delicious combination. I was told the chocolate was good too! We sat outside under umbrellas and watched the world go by in the square.

Sigismondi is my favorite cafe in Chieti!!! Not only do they serve the best pastries, coffee and cakes but the baristas are simply the most professional and kind people around. This is our go to cafe for over 12 years for our morning expresso and capuccino and is family owned and operated. The Son is the head pastry chef and his parents usually run the cash register. My favorite pastries here are the bomba, miele (apple) sfoglia, which is a little baked apple pastry, and the mini fruit tarts which usually have fresh in season fruits such as strawberries, bananas, grapes and kiwi. They also offer prepaed sandwiches and little pizzas. They don't speak English here but will try very hard to understand and serve you. I am always sad when we go back home and Sigismondi is generally my first stop when arriving and my last stop leaving Chieti. A must go if you are in Chieti and this is saying a lot as the whole region usually has supberb coffee and pastries.
