Red Tavern - Chico

The food here is outstanding, especially for Chico. It has a high-end atmosphere and the flavors are fantastic. The meatloaf, chicken, and hamburger were all delicious.

It's a lovely restaurant, and I would suggest making a reservation. The cost is approximately $65 per person, including drinks.

Sydney, our server, was outstanding. The appetizer was generous and delicious; I highly recommend it. The beet salad was unique, and I know my late father would have enjoyed it. The scallop special was fantastic and should be a permanent addition to the menu. As for the Filet Oscar, it was larger than I anticipated and cooked to perfection. However, the béarnaise sauce had more of a hollandaise flavor, and I found the lobster claw to be a bit dry—after all, Oscar is typically made with crab. I also question the idea of smashing asparagus into whipped potatoes to create a tower; I think a simple lean-to presentation would have been more appealing. The lava cake and gelato, which tasted like ice cream, were absolutely divine—definitely the standout dessert. I will definitely return. Just a heads-up: parking is available in the back off the alley, but the back door tends to stick.

Everything was good food was excellent. Very happy with the experience.

I have a registered service dog was given so much crap about bringing her through the restaurant to the back patio, I will never go back. They need to learn the law. Ignorant employees.
