China Royal - Chichester

Ordered a takeaway got it home and the chicken balls were raw. Phoned China royal and they weren’t really interested refused to refund me for the food only for the balls. However the raw food had contaminated the food on my plate. Disgusting customer service and raw food avoid!

Fast fast service. Wide choice on menu (Saturday evening), just like a takeaway menu. You can order whatever you want. BBQ ribs for starters were very tender. Prawns with chilli good too. I would say food was average quality for taste, but plenty of quantity and choice. Venue and ambience typical for sit down buffet Chinese restaurant. We had a good time.

The takeout food is decent, nothing extraordinary but better than some I've had before. The buffet may disappoint if you prioritize quality over quantity, especially if they take a while to refill. Last week, the food kept running out, with no noodles, mushrooms, prawn toast, and the egg foo yung was dry and chewy. My husband is satisfied with a plate of meat, ribs, chicken, etc, but also acknowledges the lack of quality.

Today, on Sunday, October 9th, we decided to visit China Royal for our Sunday meal. We have been regular customers for many years, but due to COVID-19, we had not been there for over a year. We arrived at around 12:45 PM and noticed that the hot meal table was only a quarter full in some sections. As we approached the bar, we observed that there were not many people inside. Normally, at this time of day, the restaurant is bustling with activity. We were seated at a table and instructed to get our meal. We expressed our desire for proper hot food, not scraps. After a wait, they slowly brought out a couple of hot dishes, but unfortunately, everything was overcooked. The dominant taste was that of the sweet and sour sauce. Despite our many years of patronage, this will sadly be our farewell to China Royal. We will not be returning again.
