Black Barrel Tavern Old Town - Chicago

Nice ambience and a great place to catch a sports event on television. Staff very friendly and the food is consistently good.

This place changed within the last 6 or so months and is not anything like the one in the West Loop. My main issue is the menu. I would not recommend or go back.

The service was terrible, but the food and atmosphere were great. Our waiter was nowhere to be found; we had to wait 30 minutes for drinks, even though the restaurant wasn't busy.

I went there for my birthday dinner, and it was the worst experience I've ever had. They attempted to overcharge us, and the service was lacking—our server never checked in on us. It was really disappointing. I won't be going back again.

We were a group of 10 for dinner and drinks, and after placing our initial drink order, it took 20 minutes for them to arrive—only to find that 3 people never received theirs. Despite our repeated efforts to get a server's attention, we waited an additional 25 minutes without any assistance. After sitting there for nearly an hour, we chose to forgo dinner and opted for Chipotle instead. When we finally managed to get someone’s attention to request our bill, we were charged for all the drinks, even though 3 of them were never delivered. To make matters worse, there was karaoke blaring in the background, making it difficult to talk with friends. It's safe to say we won't be returning.
