The setting in a lovely kitchen garden adds to the overall experience, and the service feels personal. The tranquil atmosphere and focus on food make it a special place. My group had an unforgettable meal on Saturday, with each dish showcasing amazing fresh ingredients and flavors. The waiter was patient and knowledgeable, ensuring everything was just right despite the busy glass house. The chef/owner, Simon, was brilliant in explaining the menu and providing attentive service. This place may not be for everyone, as it has a quirky charm that sets it apart from standard restaurants. We enjoyed dishes like Cornish crab and homemade Tuscan fennel sausages with coco beans, accompanied by the best sourdough bread. The attention to detail and love put into each dish was evident. The bread was so good that we bought extra loaves from their farm shop. Approach this restaurant with an open mind, a hungry stomach, and a relaxed attitude, and you will leave extremely satisfied and happy.
Wow, an amazing hidden gem with amazing seasonal and fresh food! a beautiful environment and the owner took the time to speak personally with us and make sure everything was in order. could not break our lunch and eating was amazing. we'll be safe. back! we only drove to lunch and worth the trip.
A warm reception greeted us and although we had not booked, we were accommodated in the bedroom with a large selection of cookbooks decorating the bookshelf. the most delicious French twill with cheesy sourdough crouton and a disc blueberry frangipane. it was... great to talk to the owner about his plans for the future. I can't wait to revise when the tulips and early lights are all in the flower thanks!
I have been a regular customer over the last five years during which time Worton has been a uniquely lovely place to visit for the gardens , shop and lovely cafe food . We booked for lunch today and what a disaster it was !...We arrived in good time and were given a table but it went downhill from there . We were able to order after approx mins after repeated requests and then we waited another hour for our food by which time we gave up and left . The staff were completely incompetent and seemed in a state of total panic . Around us orders were getting mixed up and people were waiting . I cannot comment on the quality of the food obviously but the gardens looked tatty by comparison with previous visits though may be the weather and the organic toilet smelt such that it was wafting as far as the car park when we left to go . I realise allowances for covid should be made but Worton really need to pull their socks up . I won,t be returning anytime soon but wish them success in turning this around.
We had a delicious family lunch in a beautiful setting and were made to feel very welcome by the lovely staff. We were a group of adults and two young children, and all enjoyed our meals a lot. The giant globe artichokes with hollandaise...dip were a particular highlight, and the cuttlefish and polenta was incredible. The huge pavlova with berries and jersey cream was an amazing end to the meal and absolutely blew us away. All in all, a perfect lunch.
