Shabag Indian Takeaway - Chelmsford

This place came with many recommendations. I find it very average. I ordered a chicken danshak. The chicken was not nice, tasted like it had been frozen for a LONG time. Sauce was quite nice. I also oredered a tandoori rhoti, but got a plain naan instead. Why doesn't Chelmsford have a great Indian? I used to live in Bishop's Stortford and we were spoilt for choice?

Having used this Indian takeaway service for so many years, tonight unfortunately, our usual experience all changed. We placed our food order via the App for delivery and settled ourselves for a Saturday night at home. One and a half hours later nothing arrived. After a phone call the food arrived which we duly unpacked, no apology or anything. As I noted above we have used this company many times and never have I experienced such poor quality food or service. My opinion at the time was that everyone is entitled to a bad day, hence we called the company. The young receptionist listened to our issues and informed he couldn’t do anything and would need to speak to the boss who would call us within 15 mins. He didn’t call, 4 times we had to call back and finally got to speak to the Boss who unfortunately didn’t care or he gave that impression. He suggested I deliver the food back to him which kind of makes a mockery of a Saturday night delivery service. I now have bag of disappointing food in a plastic carrier bag next to the front door which is going back tomorrow. This isn’t about the quality of the food which I hasten to add is usually good, it’s about the poor management skills and the “couldn’t give a s….t attitude, we have your money” Attitude. Having said all that if that’s the quality of food you are now producing I’d keep clear of this takeaway service. I have spent hundreds of pounds with this outlet and tonight they really didn’t care that they have ruined our evening, Imagine you was a new customer.

My husband and I got takeout from this restaurant. The sauces tasted like they were straight from a jar. We were very disappointed with the quality of the food and would not order from here again. The potatoes were soggy and lacked flavor, the garlic naan had no garlic, and we didn't even receive the rice we ordered. Ultimately, we ended up throwing our food away.

Excellent food as usual. Delivered bang on time and by the proprietor himself. Very friendly and courteous service from a very kind and wonderful person. Highly recommend!

I was recommended to try this takeout restaurant a month ago. The first time I ordered, one of the main meals was missing. The restaurant said they would credit us next time, which they did. The second time I ordered, everything was good. The third time, I received a 15% discount code so I decided to reorder. However, this time two items were missing and I did not receive the 15% discount. I called the restaurant and they offered to deduct the price of the missing items from my next bill. The food was good, but I will not be using them again.
