McCarthy‘s - Chateau-D'Oex

We had a disappointing visit here. Had to wait for ages for a simple burger which sadly I couldn't eat, the meat was so rubbery. The bun was good. Maybe we went on a bad day. Nice atmosphere and pleasant host.

Great place for food. They were busy when we went, so had stopped table service, but now do a buffet version, but I certainly didn't feel like we were missing out, and was great value. Drinks and desserts were still available to order. I read through the menu and it sounded amazing, not just your regular burger restaurant. A lovely family run place, where they genuinely care, with a great atmosphere. Right near a train stop also which was great for us to ride out when staying in a nearby town.

I have just spent the evening here for a meal with my family. Despite turning up at the last minute with a large party, they did everything to make sure we were as comfortable and looked after as possible. The burgers we ordered were some of the best I have ever had, and the family service that came along with it was second to none. The atmosphere was kind and inviting, with the homey chalet interior one would expect for the region.Without a doubt I would recommend anyone in the area (or even outside for that matter) to try out McCarthy's. Their food and hospitality was unparalleled and I for one shall certainly be returning when I next can.

We passed by McCarthy's restaurant already multiple times in Winter when we went back from skiing in Gstaad, but we never stopped since it is a bit difficult to brake for parking if you are in a big que of cars driving back from skiing as the restaurant is located at a main country road. Now we stopped first time and enjoyed the warm and friendly styled restaurant which you would not expect from the outside - cinderella story style and indeed a lot of heart. The owner was super symphatic and easy going, giving us recommendations for the different burgers and offered a good chat. He speaks german, english and french which is real plus being located almost at the swiss german / french language border.The burgers are offered at attractive prices (for Switzerland,) optic was awesome and taste was really good, just the highly recommended sauce on our south african burgers was a bit light in taste. We will come back and try next time one of the gourmet burgers! Thanks for the nice evening.P.S: In case of interest, have seen as well gluten free and/ or vegetarian burgers on the menue.

Highly recommended. Personalised, homemade burgers and excellent homemade ice tea. Great, friendly service and a charming interior. Family and dog friendly.
