Shum Xing Chinese - Charlottesville

The owners of this restaurant are so wonderful. They are very sweet and kind. Their food is really amazing. Being from California originally, the Chinese food has always been so great out there. After leaving and living in four other states, this restaurant right here in Charlottesville, reminds me so much of the Chinese food in my home state. Everything we have ever ordered from this restaurant, has been delicious and wonderful! We feel very lucky to have this restaurant right in our local neighborhood.

BEST Chinese Food for Forest Lakes/29 North area. We ordered General Szo's Chix with Fried Rice and Egg Roll combo dinner, Chix Lo-Mein Noodles, Fried Dumplings and Cheese Wantons...It was ALL still INCREDIBLY good, even after sitting for an hour in the bag! (The time it took from restaurant to home).

I hesitated to try this restaurant for a while because of its low star rating, but I finally went for it and ordered the Hot and Sour soup along with the General Tso's Chicken dinner. It turned out to be quite good!

This is my second time ordering in two years. The first time, the Dragon's Breath was quite intense, and the food had a burnt and sour taste; I rated it 2 stars, though it really deserved 1. However, I recently ordered again and noticed a significant improvement in the food. I was very pleased with the quality and the portion sizes. I definitely plan to return.

I can't get enough of the fried shrimp appetizer! It's a massive ring of deliciousness—crispy on the outside and perfectly tender on the inside. It comes with a tasty red sauce that resembles sweet and sour shrimp. I've gone back multiple times just for this dish! It deserves to be street food or even a new fast food favorite! I also tried the crispy beef, which was excellent. It's clear that the chef puts a lot of effort into enhancing the flavors of traditional Chinese dishes. Overall, great food!
