I usually don't write reviews, but the service my friends and I experienced on a recent Saturday evening was among the worst I've ever had at a bar or restaurant. When we arrived, the host greeted us, but the place was only about 15% full, and he seemed hesitant to let us sit at three open seats at the bar. I'm reluctant to write a negative review, but our experience at this bar really put a damper on our first night in Charleston. The bar staff was not only unwelcoming but also outright rude. The host seemed displeased that we took the last three seats at the bar, and when we finally sat down, the bartender reacted with a sneer at our simple question. We were mostly ignored while we enjoyed our drinks, and when we eventually managed to get someone's attention to ask for the check, we had to repeat our order since no one had kept track.

The presentation of everything was impressive, and the service was quite good. However, I found that most of the dishes were overly salty, particularly the brunch grits, although the mushrooms in them were fantastic. I also found the brunch menu a bit difficult to read.

I wish I could remember our server's name. She was wonderful! Every dish was delicious and beautifully prepared. We loved it all!

We came in Friday night for the tasting menu.
