Gillie's Seafood - Charleston

The most delicious food ever! Huge portions and amazing prices! My husband and I weren’t on the wait list, but a very sweet lady who worked there sat us at the bar so she wouldn’t have to turn us away. I cannot say enough good things about this local restaurant. It’s a gem!Food: 5/5

This place is amazing! The food was incredible and the service and staff is very friendly and professional. The dining area isn't fancy but it doesn't need to be. You just need a comfortable place to sit down and enjoy some scrumptious seafood.Food: 5/5

I went here Memorial Day Weekend and the service and the food was phenomenal. The staff quickly accommodated our large party of about 20 people. The sweet tea was just the right amount of sweet. I ordered the jambalaya and loved it. It was my first time eating alligator. I highly recommend the spicy jambalaya. The soul rolls were also delish. Everyone in my group enjoyed their food. Most of all, the prices were more than reasonable for the quality of food received.

Be prepared to wait. However, the wait is worth the visit. I suggest the owner invest in a buzzer system to alert customers when a table is available.Customer service could improve, however. The hostess wasn't personable, but the waitress made up for the less than welcoming greeting.Overall, the food was phenomenal, and perhaps the best soul food in the city.

My childhood friend and I went to Gillie's on James Island in Charleston, SC. We sat outside I ordered the fried seafood platter, she ordered a salad and fried oysters. The food was great and the service was great. I'd recommend this place to everyone. We will definitely be going back.Food: 5/5
