フィードバックを提供するThe vegetarian selection at Tricky Fish includes tofu bite appetizers, veggie dogs, tofu tacos or burritos, Beyond Burger tacos or burritos, and vegan crab cakes. Although the staff seemed indifferent during my first visit, the laid-back atmosphere was a plus. However, the service can be slow. The food, on the other hand, was not impressive. The buffalo tofu bites were unexpected and the beans and rice lacked flavor. I have returned a few times since but have not been overly impressed with the food. Despite this, I appreciate having a vegan option in Charleston as they are limited in the area. (Updated from previous review on May 24, 2022)
The atmosphere is not welcoming, they are understaffed which is understandable, but the service was not only slow but also very poor and lacked effort. Despite repeating our order for the light life plant-based hot dogs multiple times, our server, who appeared to be distracted, still brought our vegan 3-year-old a meat-based hot dog which he unfortunately ate a bite of. This mistake has left us very disappointed and we will not be returning to this restaurant.
I find myself coming to this restaurant at least once a week because it's so delicious! They offer a wide variety of vegan dishes including veggie dogs, tofu wings, beyond burgers, tofu tacos, vegan crab cakes, and sometimes even tofu burgers. I highly suggest trying the vegan cajun mayo with the wings or on a burger!
Fantastic flavors and a lively ambiance! I highly recommend trying the tofu tacos and vegan crab cakes. They also offer corn tortillas for those who are gluten-free.
The menu at Tricky Fish offers two vegetarian dishes (veggie dog and tofu tacos) as well as several vegetarian sides that can be made vegan upon request. I decided to try the tofu tacos with a side of red beans and rice. The tacos were delicious, filled with locally made tofu, lettuce, cheese, and crème fraîche on a grilled tortilla. The tofu was perfectly seasoned and cooked. I also tried a hard taco, but found that I preferred the soft taco. The red beans and rice were served in a compostable container, consistent with the restaurant's green theme. The dish had a nice cayenne kick and was well-seasoned with a good balance of beans and rice. Overall, I enjoyed my meal at Tricky Fish, although I wished there were more vegetarian options on the menu. I look forward to returning in the future and hope that they will expand their vegetarian offerings. This restaurant is definitely a treat and not a trick, and I would recommend stopping by if you have the chance.
