Hong Sing Chinese Restaurant - Cessnock

This is the best Chinese restaurant I have ever been to. The staff members are incredibly friendly and welcoming. I have lived in this area for most of my life and I highly recommend this restaurant. Since moving to another state, I can't wait to visit home just to eat here again and see all the wonderful staff, especially the lovely lady who always serves us. This place is a favorite for me and my kids.

We came here for a family dinner and were pleasantly surprised. Despite drab decor and unflattering reviews we found a different story. Excellent service: friendly, attentive and helpful. The food was very good with each dish having a generous portion of meat. If you want vegetables I suggest you order a separate dish of vegetables. The food was prepared very quickly and thoroughly enjoyed.

I ordered takeaway lunch specials. Very cheap at $8 for a pick of a selection of dishes with fried rice. Honey chicken was in batter and not bad except fairly tasteless, needed more honey. Satay chicken, not much chicken, I thought at first I was given the wrong dish as it tasted and looked like chow mien with rice. But it had a slight hint of satay taste. Overall dishes need more sauces added.Good to see that this restaurant has gluten free options.A strong smell of bleach greeted me when I opened their door which almost made me turn around, then I thought well they must have a clean restaurant but perhaps they should keep such strong smells for when customers aren't around.Room was very dark with no lights on, I had to turn menu to light coming in from window to read it. Room very dated and needs updating. I wouldn't sit and eat here...With so many choices of restaurants in Cessnock they need to up their game if they want repeat customers.
