When we came to order our breakfast sandwiches my friend asked how much it would be to add an egg to her bacon sandwich, at which point the waitress advised that the prices on the menu had increased so weren 't correct could only say they had gone up by about 50p. On asking for a sparkling water she advised that had also gone up by 20p maybe 30p, these increases were due to the cost of living increase. When we questioned why the menus hadn 't been updated she advised there were new owners it hadn 't been done yet but that there was a sign on the wall inside the shop advising of the price increase, we were sat outside but to be honest anyone entering the shop wouldn 't have seen it as it would have been behind them. She then brought out the A4 sign. She also tried to find an updated menu which she couldn 't find. Firstly I am sure this must be illegal to advertise one price charge another secondly a hand written note could have been added to the menu or a copy of the price increase attached to the menu which everyone would have seen. Maybe the new owners should hold fire on the price increase until new menus are available as it may save their reputation. The breakfast sandwiches were very tasty, however the 'glass ' that accompanied the sparkling water was in fact a jar with a thread for a screw top. Some might call it funky but not to everyone 's taste. Needless to say it wasn 't used. There are standards which have to be met the clear advertising of correct pricing is one of them. We are all effected by the cost of living crisis on occasions when we do our bit to support local businesses we might be watching the pennies too.
First time eating at this cafe and I have to say the breakfast I ordered was very good. I have had lots of breakfast's in many cafe's and this rated up there with the best. Inside the cafe is very compact and our table was stuck right in a corner so perhaps not the best spot. The lady who took our order was very friendly and polite. We had a fairly lengthy wait for the food but as we weren't in a hurry it didn't matter. My friend and I both ordered a Full English breakfast. 2 very nicely cooked eggs, two thick bacon slices, a home made cheesy hash brown. 1 good quality sausage, a pot of beans. The only disappointment was the advertised grilled tomatoes turned out to be tinned chopped ones . We also had a slice of toast included. The price of £6.80 each was we thought very reasonable. Not sure how much the cups of tea were but the total bill came to £19.00. All in all we enjoyed our experience here and would return when in the area.
I visited Rosebud cafe and paid £12.00 for 2 toasted teacakes and two coffees. I found it to be quite pricey.
I had an excellent breakfast yesterday at this restaurant. The food was freshly cooked and the home made cake was gorgeous. The staff and owner were so friendly, I would highly recommend this place.
I ordered a cappuccino with oat milk and when I got it I questioned whether it was; my friend ordered a latte and hers was frothier than mine. I explained that cappuccinos are usually a lot frothier and the waitress offered to add more froth ... her excuse was that the oat milk the boss buys doesn 't froth well! Evidently he needs to purchase more appropriate ingredients. When it was returned, there was a bit more froth but it was ultimately still a milky coffee (not even a latte! And had been spilled all over the saucer. I also ordered some toast with jam; on the menu it was £2.50. It also didn 't mention butter. The toast arrived already buttered; luckily I 'm lactose intolerant not allergic but certainly not as advertised. Then I go to pay the bill and I 've been charged £4 for the toast! When questioned, the waitress just turned around and asked her boss to speak to me and he said they couldn 't keep changing the menu with all the inflations. I stated that we should have been informed or at least a sign, at which point he pointed out an A4 piece of paper stuck on the wall inside with small print writing on. I 'm not sure it would have been obvious even if we had sat inside, but we were sat outside so we definitely didn 't see it! There was no apology given, and he repeatedly referred to me as lovely clearly in a condescending attempt to placate me. He then passed me off again to the waitress who charged me. I 'm not one for making a scene, particularly in such a small space, and I wholeheartedly support local businesses but there 's a line and they 've crossed it. My friend enjoyed her latte and cake, so perhaps it is only the dietary restrictions and prices that are issues but I dont find it acceptable. In fact, the lack of clarity is quite possibly illegal. I shan 't be returning.
