Flocky pieces of fish dipped into a bowl with spicy pepper broth. The service is not the best. Sometimes the waiting staff is not attentive. From what I read. American Chinese food is terrible. So don't buy any dishes you find in your local Chinese American. Like many restaurants. Some dishes are met or missed.
Delicious, authentic Chinese dishes in Hunan style. The menu is very comprehensive and diverse, and while most elements may seem intimidating, there are many options with almost universal appeal. For someone who tries this restaurant for the first time, I would recommend chicken with chilli and nuts and the bean made with pork with or without meat according to preference. The atmosphere is pleasant and the decor is tasteful. Food preparation is fast, but a little inconsistent. Service is good. The best time to visit is the weekend.
Probably the best Chinese food in the Baltimore area. Order from the authentic menu everything is still given in English, but the dishes are much more interesting. Flavors are vibrant and not too spicy (ignore the restaurant name I don 't think most of the food is actually Hunanese). Bonus points for being right next to an H Mart so you can buy supplies and try making some yourself.
Regarding another comment about fat in dishes, it’s common in China to find fat in meat dishes, as the combination adds flavor. Historically, fat was more valued than lean meat, and many people still prefer it, despite health concerns. Personally, I avoid fat, so I wouldn’t order dishes like that. However, authentic dishes often include it. Restaurants strive to maintain authenticity while also adapting to local preferences, as they serve not just food but also culture and history. It’s similar to what would happen if Dunkin' Donuts didn’t use sugar and chocolate—there’s a certain essence in staying true to the original that shouldn’t be overlooked.
This cozy little restaurant is a hidden gem that offers authentic Chinese cuisine. While many Hunan dishes are quite spicy, their chili peppers are milder, making it accessible for those who prefer less heat. The staff is incredibly friendly, adding to the welcoming atmosphere. The food truly captures the essence of Chinese flavors, and the extensive menu features pictures for each dish, which makes choosing easier. Both the quality and portion sizes are excellent. I would definitely recommend visiting again!
