Restaurante La Ola - Catemaco

We had dinner my husband and I shared a wonderful seafood stew that was perfectly prepared. Our friend had a ceviche type of mixed seafood that was not so great. The topotes were stale, but the flan was fabulous. It was off season, and...they seemed to be struggling staff wise.

La Ola is the place to experience the real flavors of Catemaco. I have been here so many times, and each time it only gets better. My personal favorites: Mojarra al Chile y limón (Lemon and Chili Crappie), Tegogolos en pico de Gallo (local snail...with tomato, onion, and coriander), Arroz a la tumbada (seafood rice), Picadas, and Pellizcadas (hand made tortilla with salsa, cheese and meat). Honestly everything is just sooo delicious!!

Located on the boardwalk in the small town of Catemaco it is a great spot to enjoy some of the specialty dishes of the region. Several local friends and I had lunch there one afternoon and it was wonderful. The appetizer of small grilled fish...the size of sardines was outstanding see photo) and my main course of fish Veracruz style was excellent. We were also entertained by 3 local mariachis during our meal. Everyone enjoyed both the atmosphere and the food.

Fui con mi familia después de buscar en trip advisor y ver qué este es "el mejor lugar" para comer en catemaco. El servicio es muy lento, el personal es amable pero no es suficiente. Yo pedí un cóctel de camarón y un aguachile, en ambos me salieron varios camarones de muy mala apariencia y que parecían congelados. La verdad una decepción.

La comida es buena y los precios son accesibles. Tiene una magnífica vista ya que se encuentra al lado de la laguna, y lo que me gustó es que tiene platillos como el salpicon de anguila que rompen un poco con la monotonía de este tipo de restaurantes.
