フィードバックを提供するWe happened to stumble upon this place while on a walk one evening. There were huge queues that were moving quite quickly. It seemed popular for both tourists and locals, so we decided to give it a try and we are glad that we did. First we had to get the disposable menu/order form and pencil. Once we decided what we wanted and completed the form at the allocated benches we had to move into the payment queue. Once paid, we were given our numbered receipt. We moved into the wait line and listened for our order number to be called in Italian. We collected our food and brought it to the open air restaurant/tables. The fritto misto, prawns and fish were all very tasty. The chips and octopus balls were a little bland and so so. Top tip: make sure you order enough food first go as it’s a lengthy process to have to do twice.
We were here off season, so it was quiet and very informal a few of the menu items were out of stock. Open seating. You order your food by checking off boxes on a paper menu and wait for your to be called. Casual and fun with views of the Adriatic. Prices are very reasonable. We had Trofie alla Scogliera, Frittura Calamari, Gamberoni alla Griglia, Misto Crudite di frutti di mare and a Tartufo Pistacchio everything was delicious
I don’t write restaurant reviews often unless they are either really very good or very very bad, because food is very subjective. Unfortunately this one falls into the latter category and was so appalling, I feel compelled to warn others. We were looking for a seafood meal along the Salento coastline and as this place looked busy usually a good sign), we decided to stop. Firstly, this place is really expensive compared to other eating options in the region, and you get absolutely no service for your money. You order at the counter, they call your number then you collect your meal. Everything is disposable, from the plastic cups, to the cutlery, to the plates, it is all swept up in the plastic table cloth at the end,and the whole lot is dumped in a bin, not even sorted, an environmental nightmare. I wasn’t watching the other tables, so had I realised this, we would have left before ordering. Blundering ahead, I ordered a seafood lasagne. No taste, very little seafood, no sauce no accompaniments. Just an unappetising slab dumbed onto a throwaway plate. My husband ordered a grilled fish that, at least was fresh, but hardly filling, as the so called accompanying salad was 3 pieces of iceberg lettuce, no tomatoes, onions, artichokes or dressing. Still hungry we decided to chance a dessert, blind hope prevailing over common sense at this point) when restaurants remove your order from a freezer and remove the plastic wrapping with ceremony, you know it is all down hill from there. My advertised lemon mousse frozen cheesecake) was still frozen after being nuked in a microwave in front of me. I took one bite, spat in out and gave up. My husbands tiramisu was just okay and straight out of a supermarket packet. Coffee was a thimble full, undrinkable, no milk or sugar available. To add insult to injury, for the worst meal we have eaten in five countries in Europe we were stung a hefty 32 euros. I was so annoyed, I left a handwritten note to the management on our table saying exactly what I thought, I have never ever done that in my life before. This place is the ultimate tourist trap, save your money and go elsewhere.
Just 3 km from the zinzulusa, this place is only missing from the table service.
