La Pergola - CASTELLABATE

Excellent cuisine! I highly recommend eating fish based because cooked in a masterful way. there are few restaurants in the area that know how to get the experience and fresh products of first choice, and I also add non exoso account! Good. I'll definitely come back! I highly recommend raw fish ... a dream

The al fresco dining area is lovely, set just off the main drag, nice sized tables with table cloths and plenty of shade. The service is also good, if perhaps a little overbearing when trying to get you through the door. Unfortunately, the food is pretty average. We ate here twice during our stay in SMC, sampling pasta, salad and fish dishes (so a good range). Whilst there was nothing particularly ‘bad’ about the food, there was nothing particularly good about it either. We felt this restaurant was a reasonable choice if you have nowhere else to go, but it’s not great value for money and you can get similar elsewhere much cheaper.

12 of us turned up on a slow night. The waitress was very accommodating and moved tables together but it all went downhill after that. The kitchen could not cope and the meals turned up haphazardly. Bread and fries came when some of us had finished. Swordfish was a sad looking thin slice of fish which was bland, calamari was the worst I’d ever eaten, spaghetti and clams over-salted and undercooked pasta. Not fresh pasta either. Ravioli was nice but not enough of it. Octopus was nice. The beef was inedible and could not even be cut, let alone eaten. They did change this for ravioli for us. We should have known better really turning up to an empty restaurant but we put it down to the fact that it’s out of season and none of the restaurants are busy. Won’t be going back.

The service here is great! We came for dinner and had an eggplant appetizer, AMAZING! Then my husband and I both ordered different pizzas, YUM! The pizzas were perfectly cooked and not burnt on the bottom. We ate pizza in several different cities in Italy and this by far was the best pizza!
