Sam's Southern Eatery - Carthage

Yelp didn't serve us well this time. We waited 30 minutes to be attended to and another 45 minutes for our food. The fries were so tough that they were nearly impossible to bite into. The chicken fingers lacked any flavor, and the hamburger was overcooked. The fried catfish was decent, but the tartar sauce was bland. On a positive note, the red beans and rice were good. It seems like the locals really enjoy this place, as there was a steady stream of people picking up takeout orders, but we won’t be returning.

Before the new management took over, the food and service were fantastic. While the service remains excellent, the food has unfortunately declined. It made me feel ill almost right away. I won't be returning to this particular location again.

I had to struggle to maintain my appetite; the experience was very disappointing, but not in a budgetary sense.

My friend Dixie and I absolutely love Sam's! The staff is incredibly friendly, and the food is just amazing.

My husband and I stumbled upon this hidden gem while passing through, and we were pleasantly surprised. The food is outstanding! The fried items weren’t greasy at all; they were well-seasoned and absolutely tasty. The red beans and rice were perfectly flavored. Coming from Cajun country, we can confidently say this is the real deal!
