Shearwater Tavern - Carmel-by-the-Sea

The food was sufficient, but the service was simply abysmal. the bartender was so rude to several tables that it was unpleasant and the ambiente leaves much to wish. I can't recommend it.

My server was wonderful timely, thoughtful, and knowledgeable and anticipated every need. I had the avocado toast w/ smoked salmon and poached eggs. It was heavenly so crisp, flavorful and fresh. My only regret was that I could not finish it all. The portions were generous. I highly recommend this gem. I'll definitely be back for more!

Meal was good, but pumpkin pie would have been nice with the traditional turkey dinner.

We had a delicious and creative breakfast at Shearwater the day after Thanksgiving. It was our first time eating at Shearwater but it won’t be our last. Our server was named Angel and she was excellent! Friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. She pointed out that Shearwater uses local produce and products and we were pleased to help with the local economy and enjoy the delicious food they produced. Even their coffee was locally roasted! Shearwater Restaurant is inside the Carmel Mission Inn. A beautiful space recently remodeled. They also serve dinner, have a Happy Hour and an outdoor courtyard with several fire pits I can highly recommend Shearwater Restaurant and ask for Angel!!

We love shearwater! GREAT chicken with roasted potatoes and vegetables. killer burger. love the steak frites. everything is excellent and service is friendly and prompt. nice full bar too.
