North China Dumpling - Cambridge

Prices advertised on window were very misleading as the menu prices differed significantly. We had to chase the server for some drinks and to order some food even though it wasn 't busy . The food suprisingly came out very quick. However the portions were small for the price . Everything tasted bland and lacked any flavour . We had a 'ho fun ' and rice dish which lacked any 'wok hei ' but seemed like a 2 minute job in the wok. The 'char sui ' pork was dreadful . It had no glaze or crisp to outside , definitely reheated and not fresh . It was drowned in some sort of broth and again it lacked any real flavour, just very bland . We also had the dumplings a try, again nothing special, very bland in flavour again. These are basic yet very popular cantonese dishes which they couldn 't even execute well. When the bill arrived it was not itemised but hand written so he could of put anything down and made up the final figure . From the previous reviews I 'm guessing they sneakily add service charge in . We just ate the food as quick as possible so we could exit promptly. Never again!

In Cambridge to visit my sister and we stopped by this restaurant for dinner very tasty and delicious Chinese food especially the dumplings and the lamb and bean curd clay pot which was a particular highlight. Good value and staff were very friendly as well

Average portion dishes. Luke warm service. I don’t think they are used to having many non-chinese diners. They are far more comfortable serving chinese diners. No annoying music playing in background- so excellent location for those who use hearing aids. It is clean and warm. The menu is extensive and includes pictures of virtually every dish.

According to the merchants here, and the menu outside the window of the store says that a bowl of beef ramen is 8.9 pounds, but the menu after entering the store has risen to 12 pounds, which is acceptable. However, two people only ordered two bowls of noodles and the price went up to 35 pounds, because there was a service charge, but the service was only two glasses of water. This price can go to a better hotel to enjoy some better service, do not recommend everyone to come here
