It would make me feel better to just write that this place offers so much more genuine Corsican food than the more international kitchens in the “tourist traps” at the port. Because it feels genuine and rustic, but it should also be tasty and made with love and at least some creativity to win my heart. Most of our company had the rotisserie. It was plenty but the meat was really dry. And it came with some potatoes and zucchini (I think) that someone had put into the oven for a while like my 15 years old daughter could have done, i.e. nothing requiring a trained chef or even a grown up adult with some basic cooking knowledge. And this was a quite expensive dish. So for me it was genuine in the sense that the food seemed to be cocked by someone from Corsica, but not with passion for food. My rating goes up thanks to the great atmosphere and I did not regret going there although I would not mind just going for a drink next time.
I've been here with my family as we always come at least once when we come to town. From the first time I tried it, I was so impressed by the flavours and the plating that I started considering it my favourite restaurant. Unfortunately, this time things weren't as I fondly remembered them. Yes, the location was still beautiful, romantic and cared for. Yes, the service was polite, albeit dispassionate and rushed. However, the stunning plating of the past were no longer and the magic we used to feel was nowhere to be seen. To be clear, food wasn't bad but average; that x factor was left behind. I'm left heartbroken and disappointed. Might reccomend but wouldn't come back.
This was our first visit to U Fanale after Covid. Previously, we had come here every year because of the delicious and imaginative cooking. Arriving this time, we were led to a table outside with the best view in the whole place. This was maybe the case, but there was no shade and the sun was unrelenting. When we asked to move to a table with shade, the waiter/owner became very surly. The meal itself was extremely disappointing. The meat from the rotisserie was chewy. It had been really bigged up by the waiter/owner. I can 't believe it has received so many excellent reviews from French diners! If you want food like this cooked properly, go to Chez Edgard in Lavatoggio where they spit-roast legs of lamb, veal and wild boar over an open fire.
We spent an evening with the family at this nice restaurant with a big terrasse. The food was outstanding. We had fish and the roast, both were excellent. Great view to Revellata. We will definitely come back.
Very nice setting for a nice romantic dinner, you have to reserve ahead. It does take a long time for the food to arrive and the restaurant seems understaffed.Maybe this year was an exceptional situation.Very good food, but it was cold when we finally had it.The rotisserie is a must. Also, good cocktails
