Le Diplomate feels like a quick trip to Paris without leaving D.C. I went there recently, and from the moment I walked in, I was charmed by the cozy, bustling atmosphere. The decor is classic French bistro, and the smell of fresh bread hits you right away. I couldn’t resist starting with the escargot, which was buttery and delicious. The steak frites were perfectly cooked, and the croissants were as flaky as any I’ve had in France. The service was top-notch—our server made great recommendations and made us feel welcome. It’s the kind of place where you want to take your time, savor every bite, and soak in the ambiance. I left feeling like I’d had a little taste of Paris right in D.C.
Excellent place for a sophisticated lunch with business colleagues or friends. Well priced for the experience and great food. Always reliable.
The prices are simply too high for the quality of the experience. When I opt for an upscale restaurant, I expect the service, the food, and the overall experience to reflect the cost. Le Diplomate falls short of delivering this experience.
This place is first class , an absolutely french establishment set down in the heart of DC. Everything is authentic except the service is way way better than one would normally expect in Paris. Food is top class, wine list is excellent and caters to all wallet sizes.
