Taqueria El Charrito - Calgary

This restaurant is a genuine authentic experience. The tacos are delicious. The owners are charming people and the service is friendly and fast. Give them an attempt, you will not be destroyed.

I myself and 3 other friends went here on Monday, 6 December 2022. While the mood of the shop is nice and prices reasonable, the food was not very good. Our tacos and quesadillas were soggy and overpowered by the taste of Cilantro, and it wasn't... very authentic. Above all, however, 3/4 of us have received chickens in our food and the same three were extremely sick all week with Salmonella poisoning. It is not difficult to check whether the chicken has been completely prepared, and people are known to die from heavy salmonella, so this is unacceptable. Please note for your own safety to go to another Mexican restaurant.

My son and I chased some tacos, so we decided to make the trek in this local restaurant. The family makes everything fresh and the tacos were very good. The portions are large and fill. If you want an authentic Mexican food, you need to taste this restaurant.

Excellent authentic Mexican food, family property and were very friendly. We had the Burritos, Enchiladas and the Barbacoa Tacos. All right! Also licensed! Very recommended

Came to the restaurant for lunch had an encounter with the manager. We spent 60 CAD on food and drinks. The fish tacos were good the chicken tacos were decent. The quesadilla was trash. See photo for how the quesadilla was prepared. The tortilla was...not cooked there was no cheese the water substance was sauce. And the chickens was canned. The inexperience chef/manager stated that Iceberg lettuce is industry standard for Hispanic food. I never had iceberg lettuce on a quesadilla and I have travelled throughout Mexico and California this is far from Authentic… the chicken is canned chicken The manager reported that he was a chef for 10 years and felt insulted for us complaining about the food. I wouldn’t recommend paying for your food before eating because not only is the manager not willing to correct the issues by providing a refund or an alternative food choice. He will tell you that he feels insulted because you tell him that his food is not good…. Calgary has to offer better AUTHENTIC tacos !!!
