Marina Paradiso - CAIRNS CITY

In our search for nice steaks we somehow ended in an Italian restaurant - not something we usually do. We were, however, so glad we did - so much that we kept coming back during out our short stay in Cairns. We had two dishes: the wagyu rump steak with a mash of fennel, and, the rib eye steak with green beans, which we highly recommend. Wetasted several kinds of Shiraz wine - each one better than the previous - even a Shiraz rosé with our "twisted" desert. When we ordered Carpaccio of Bresaola as a dessert, our waiter hardly missed a beat; just asked us whether we wanted it with ice cream or not . Of course we declined ice-cream, but we very much appreciated the joke. The service was very professional and friendly at the same time - real well-known Aussie welcomeness. If we ever come to that area again... we will come back, for sure!

Stasera siamo stati per la nostra ultima cena a Cairns... volevamo mangiare pesce e cominciare a rigustare i sapori della nostra terra... e che piacevole sorpresa ! Non potevamo aspettarci di meglio.. personale cordialissimo e attento, qualità eccelsa, gusto ITALIANO, combinazioni equilibrate ! 子ども2人はkids menu をそれぞれ注文し、一人はマルガリータピザ、もう一人はボロネーゼのペンネ料理が出てきたらびっくり！どちらも大人の量でした。大人メニューよりもリーズナブルな上に食後のアイスクリーム(チョコとバニラから選べる)がついていて、得した気分でした。日本語メニューや日本語を話せる人はいなかったですが、店員さんがとても親切で、英語があまりわからない私たちは何回も聞き直したりしましたが、いやな顔をせずに話してくれました。

I was a deaf customer at the restaurant yesterday. The food was excellent and I was very impressed with the approach of the new friendly Hungarian (or Bulgarian?) staff who tried his best to communicate with me, served me food and drinks. His newly experience as a waiter throughout the night, was very remarkable. Look forward to meeting him again when I return.

We're fussy locals and thought we were being brave to try a new place (for us). We grabbed an outside table, lovely view of Yarrabah, south of the main marina much less passer-by gawking at your food as there is at the pier restaurants, and at 1pm just in the shad (no awning or umbrellas outside).Shared three entrees that were generous portions of quality food. The bresaola carpaccio with funghi and rucola in particular. The gamberi had just the right amount of chilli for an Italian dish. Calamari ok, but not quite in the same league. I didn't think the wine list was particularly expensive for Cairns. $69 for a bottle of Cloudy Bay sav blanc is about twice bottle shop price, so actually reasonable, comparatively. Service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Just a really nice casual lunch with a lovely view and relaxed feel.
