Doi Intanon - Bw Ambleside Salutation

The food was superb and dead quick we came in at 5 and had eaten starters and mains by 5.50. We didn't feel rushed at all and so had another main and desserts and left at 6.50. Portions were a good size smaller than some places but high quality.

I have to say this is the best restaurant I’ve eaten at in years. Amazing food, attentive staff Went with a friend who hadn’t eaten Thai food before they couldn’t have been more accommodating and helped her select a great curry.

We have visited Doi Intanon a few times over the years during our numerous stays in Ambleside and have always been pleased. Unfortunately, we were disappointed on our last visit. We felt the portions were skimpy and we don't have particularly large appetites. We were happy with our starters but not the mains. The chicken massamam was watery, consisted of mainly potato with just a few scraps of chicken and the stir fried beef was very tough despite being thinly sliced. The portions of rice were miniscule, unacceptable at almost £5 a portion by the time they add a 10% service charge to customer bills. The service was as one would expect but we didn't appreciate being presented with our bill before we had asked for it. We won't come here again as we left feeling unhappy and a tad hungry despite paying 30£ a head for a starter, main and a small beer each.

Ordered a takeaway which only took 15 mins from order to collection. Slight confusion at collection (missing dish) was quickly resolved. First impressions were the portions were very small in the boxes, but once plated the portions were more than adequate. Quality of both main dishes and starter was really good. Green curry had a d good kick to it and the chicken was very tender.

Visited Doi Intanon on recommendation of a friend and can confirm I was not disappointed! Enjoyed three courses here Gai Satay to start, followed by Gaeng Ped (red curry), and their Fried Ice Cream to finish you really do have to try it! All washed down with a local ale. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the restaurant was well presented. Will definitely visit again!
