Thistle Fish & Chips - Burlington

Not exactly a place you can grab some fish and chips after the bars let outThistle seems to close up tight after the dinner hour.

One has to agree with most other comments! The place was packed; the staff efficient despite the need to work full-out to keep up with the demand.

Try as I may, I cannot find a better Fish & Chips restaurant in the Halton Region or anywhere else for that matter. The fare is Old Style Fish & Chips which used to be served wrapped in newspaper (with a beer) in the best British style pubs of old. This restaurant is well frequented every day, particularly at lunch time, but closes early around 2000 hours. The restaurant serves haddock and halibut as well as other seafood (scallops) and some of the best chowder you could ask for. I have been frequenting this establishment for 20 years but thought just now of writing a review. Tst Tst!! Super service. Recommended without reservations.

We were told this was a great place for fish and chips. They were not kidding. What they did not tell us is that they also have great Scottish meat pies and clam chowder. You can go to England, or you can go to Thistle, but Thistle is a lot closer.

Have been going here for years. Their halibut is extraordinary. Thick, pure white, and flaky but with no fishy taste. We also love their mealy pudding as a side dish.
