Everything was cooked well, the salads are nicely constructed. Gluten free batters and crumbs are available on most meals. The source of the fish is added to the menu, much of it local. Everything is fresh as the business has a fresh seafood market attached. Well worth the visit for a casual lunch or dinner.
No reason not to pay a visit! I. Quality and fresh seafood. 2. Excellent service. 3. Cut seafood puns written on the wall. 4. Seriously value for money. Highly recommended !!! ????????????????????
I come here regularly on a Sunday night. Good quality and reasonably good value. I do take away and they are very efficient. They have seating but you would not come for atmosphere but the food.
My family ran a snack bar throughout my childhood - the standard was awesome, so it is difficult to be impressed by others. I was shocked recently to buy take away fish, chips and salad from 'The Fish Kitchen' and get home to find crispy, tasty fish and delicious salad. It was a very high standard. The only thing that wasn't great was the chips which must be frozen and quite frankly the same average, tasteless standard you get everywhere these days. I have dined in their cafe twice since and tried different things including the fish tacos which were excellent. Everything is wonderful except for the chips. There are quite a few cooks in the kitchen so time they bought a potato peeler/chipper and put those cooks to work on twice cooking real chips the old fashioned way. Having said that, most people these days probably think that is what chips need to taste like. Also, you can avoid the chips and eat the most beautifully cooked fish (seriously the batter is beautifully crisp and the fish is very tasty - the real thing) and a beautiful range of salads. So great take-away; and a cosy little place to eat in. It is well worth a visit.
So disappointed. After reading this place offered gluten free options I got my hopes up. Only to find out when ordering that the GF options (crumbed and battered) and the chips (!) were fried in a fryer with gluten crumbs - hence they are not GF. No good for people with coeliac disease i.e. a medical reason for needing GF food. Why bother advertising GF :-/
