The Artichoke Toby Carvery - Brentwood

We always enjoy the artichoke, but this time we had to wait for the cook to appear, and when we returned to our table, our food was only lukewarm. We always appreciate the very friendly waitress who is always helpful; she remembers us and provides excellent service. However, receiving cold food is not pleasant, so this time I gave the meal only three stars.

The food was good, but the service was just okay. The carvery line was very busy, and it seemed like an extra staff member would have helped speed things up. The overall cleanliness was lacking; there were dirty glasses piled up while waiting to be cleared. I had to ask for a clean glass because the one I received was still dirty.

The food was good, but the Yorkshire puddings were as flat as pancakes!

Fleischserver was helpful and the meat well cooked and delicate would probably have wished more sweet, but overall good value. the only part is the price for non-alcoholic drinks if they want only half an prise of limonade. £2.80 is excessive and more than beer.

It's a Toby! Average quality roast dinner at an exceptionally low price. Well presented and reasonably well kept food, as usual the gravy station was a bit of a mess but this was towards the back end of a busy Friday lunch session. Would probably benefit from more staff but hard to see how anything could be improved much at these prices.
