Hutton Junction - Brentwood

My friends and I have been frequenting this pub for lunch for many years, but ever since it was taken over, things have changed. When we went to the bar to order our meals, it took a long time for the food to arrive. The waitress was rude and did not even acknowledge me when I asked for more drinks. After our meals were delivered, I inquired about the drinks we had ordered earlier, to which she replied that she had heard my order. Unfortunately, the drinks never arrived. I had to go to the bar myself to re-order them. Another waitress, who had always been pleasant, took our order with a smile and assured us that she would bring the drinks over. The rude waitress began clearing our plates before we had finished eating, without checking if everything was okay or if we wanted anything else. When we tried to order dessert and coffee, we were told that the coffee machine was being cleaned and they could not serve coffee. At that point, we decided to leave and find coffee and cakes elsewhere. We are now reconsidering returning to this pub in the future.

I went to this restaurant for lunch today with a friend. It was a peaceful and quiet atmosphere, unlike the noisy high street restaurants where people were shouting. It was nice to be able to have a conversation without yelling. The staff were friendly and quick, the cider was cold, and the halloumi and pepper burger was delicious. The pub was clean and well-maintained, including the bathrooms. Overall, it was a great spot for a leisurely lunch.

The food at this restaurant has always been below average, with things like undercooked fries and soggy sandwiches. However, on this visit, I was served a chicken sandwich with meat that was both hard and raw in the middle. It seemed like a mistake from microwaving to defrost. I complained and was offered a replacement sandwich for free. The experience was terrible and not worth the price. I would recommend sticking to drinks only.

Probably the worst pub meal I have ever experienced. Tiny portions, chips undercooked, vegetables overcooked worse than school dinners! They need to seriously up their game and give their customers decent value.

I arranged for a group of old work colleagues to get together here. I often arrange drinks and then on to a restaurant but after having drinks here the last time, we were so impressed with Jay and the staff trying to find us chairs so we could sit together and them making sure we were having a good time, we thought we’d eat there too this time. Nothing disappointed and we have booked to do the same thing again in a few months. Jay was his usual charming and helpful self and his team are a credit to him. The drinks flowed well and the food was really great tasty pub grub. Much better than the normal pub offerings and large portions too. The pies are lush. Definitely worth the money and the trip. If we’d have known earlier what a genuinely great place this was, we’d have booked earlier. Highly recommend for drinks, food and atmosphere. If you haven’t been, give it a try.
