Yong Great Wall Buffet - Brantford

I absolutely loved this restaurant and I plan to return for a family birthday celebration soon. Everything tasted incredibly fresh! There were plenty of options, featuring both Canadian and Asian cuisine. I enjoyed a fantastic meal that included rice, spring rolls, ribs, spicy chicken, and finished it off with a mouthwatering roast beef dinner. There was a variety of desserts available, but I opted for something light and chose the mango ice cream, which was delightful as well. The place was clean, staff were friendly, and the service was excellent.

I was pleasantly surprised to find roast beef, mashed potatoes, and gravy available—definitely not what you would expect at a Chinese buffet, but a welcome change for me. The roast beef was tender, although a bit on the salty side. There's also a salad bar, along with options for fruit and pudding. The service was outstanding; the staff was friendly, polite, and attentive. They frequently mentioned that more food was being prepared for us, which I appreciated. Overall, this place offers good value for money!

I was visiting from the UK with my family and unfortunately, I cannot recommend this restaurant. The food was only lukewarm at best, and the selection was quite limited. To make matters worse, the server handed us the bill about 30 minutes into our meal. It leaves me wondering if there’s a lack of effort in customer service nowadays, especially since tipping here seems to be more of an obligation than a matter of choice.

For those who seem to enjoy complaining without reason, I’d like to share my perspective. You're paying $13.99 for an all-you-can-eat lunch, and dinner is only a few dollars more. I go there for lunch since it's conveniently located near my workplace, and I've always had a positive experience. Given the price of $13.99, what kind of gourmet selection are you really expecting? It’s surprising to hear people criticize both the price and the food. One person even complained about the cost! Good luck finding an all-you-can-eat buffet for less than $20! And at $17.99 for dinner, you really can’t go wrong. The variety you get for the price is more than fair! Just my thoughts.

Update: We visited again today. The food was hot, fresh, and offered a larger selection than before, so we will definitely be returning. Overall, the service was good. The prices were cheap; however, it seemed like a lot of the food had been sitting out all day, and many items were unavailable. There were only a few options to choose from, and the chicken was dry, but they kindly cooked us a fresh piece and brought it to our table, which was a nice touch, and it was tasty. The shrimp was amazing, and the drinks were inexpensive. I think I’ll give it another try earlier in the day to see if there's any difference.
