Parthenon Diner Restaurant - Branford

The Parthenon is pretty solid. Got takeout recently as the diner closest to us really has gone down hill and wanted some diner food. I had my usual BEC and home fries. The BEC was great! Two eggs too! Homefries were shredded hasbrowns which was a nice change! My finance had pancakes bacon and an English muffin and enjoyed his meal too.

A very nice diner with a full bar. We were greeted right away, and taken to our booth. Our server was a little aggressive with the way he spoke to us, but he was like that even with his regulars. He didn't make eye contact at any point. I had probably what I consider the best corned beef hash in all of CT! Perfectly seasoned, and crispy! The one thing about the diners here in CT, is that they give a LOT of food! Throughout our meal our server redeemed himself as I listened to him interact with his other customers. They must really like him there. He even started to be friendly with us. That is ... until the end ... I would have left 5 stars, but I took one away when he reached over my food (I was still picking at it) to grab his tip. You never reach over to grab your tip. We took that as a hint to leave, so we did. The food is great. We'll be in the area all summer for work, and will most definitely be back.

Ok, kind of meh I stopped here for breakfast when driving home from NYC They had a decent sounding breakfast special, but it was ONLY for those dining in and I wanted to get back on the road So...I ordered two scrambled eggs with rye toast, home fries and a small coffee which came to around $15 with tip. I waited about 10 minutes and it was ready to go. Eggs were fine, potatoes were better than expected, the bacon smelled weird and the coffee was ok. I will give the server a shout out for packing salt/pepper, utensils, ketchup packets and napkins without me asking!

The place looks cute, with many seating. The menu is big, my eyes stopped on Philly Cheesesteak. I was expecting more flavors though it wasn't bad overall. French fries were good. The service was pleasant but extremely slow.

No more Home Fried Potatoes !?!?! They were so good The new hash brown potatoes are terrible. I'm done besides the prices, like everywhere, are ridiculously high. Used to love this place.
