Astronomer - Braintree

We didn't enjoy the food or drink here at all unfortunately. We were shown to our table which called nice enough but then we realised that the table had not been cleaned and was sticky. We ordered cocktails which (for £4 each) we're really quite bad and straight out of a can. We also were told that ther was no table service although we did find that the staff were polite. We ordered the halloumi, chicken wings and nachos for starters. Chicken wings were good but found the other 2 quite salty. Ordered the Korean Fried chicken burger which was ok and chicken was cooked well. For dessert, ordered the sticky toffee pudding which was really bad. The custard was watery and the whole thing tasted like it had been in the microwave for too long. I won't be coming back unfortunately.

Friendly, popular venue. Great value food if you like fried dishes, not such a good menu for those who prefer healthier options. They have different offer combinations.

Ordered food at 12.30 didn’t receive food until 2pm after being told 25 minute wait. We had 3 hungry and distressed kids asked where the food was at 1.30 was told another 15 minute wait. Service was poor no one at the bar to serve and food was rubbish. Do not recommend

Waited at least 10 minutes to be acknowledged by what little staff they had in to seat us. Food wait was 40 minutes even though they didn't seem particularly busy. When the food did arrive it was miniature portions. The kids meal had more on their plate and theirs only cost £1 which in fairness is a great offer). Will not be returning in a rush.
