We got seated quickly (as the place was empty). But we were waiting at least 10 mins for our drinks and we waited over and hour for our food to cook. Not the friendliest waitress as we pretty much got ignored the whole time we was there. Me and a few friends had the bacon and cheese burger which was over cooked, dry, rubbery and very chewy. One of my friends had a mixed grill asked for her steak rare. I dont kbow how you guys cook your steaks but 1/3rd was rare and the rest was burnt. The mix3d grill my friend had was pathetic for £16.99 one egg, one sausage, 4oz steak, half a chicken breast and 2oz gammon steak. One of the worst dinners I've ever eaten!
Stuart served us at the bar, lovely chap, very welcoming and friendly (good sell up on the wine too lol). He took us to our table as well. If only all staff showed as much customer care as he did. Drinks are expensive, no beers on draught, bar OK to wait in while a table is prepared though. When we were seated we could hardly see through the windows they were that dirty, then we noticed the table we had waited for was dirty too! One of the toilets was broken and the chairs weren't very comfortable. Not a great start to our evening. The food was a real let down. Unfortunately no chicken escalope with egg any more. I had a prawn cocktail starter, never had one so bad as this before (and I have had dozens over the years), it was appalling! The ciabatta served with it was burnt one side and not toasted at all on the other, I had to ask the waitress to change it (surprised she had the nerve to bring it to the table)! The measly 9 prawns in the dish were soggy, tasteless and freshly defrosted! The biggest joke was the salad leaves. The cook had tried to hide brown lettuce (which was once green) under a few red leaves. He did exactly the same in the salad which came with my husband's half roast chicken too (see photos). The lettuce was fit for the bin, certainly not serving to anyone, what a nerve! The chicken was nice as were the chips. I certainly wouldn't trust eating here again if the cook and waitress think serving manky salad and burnt bread are acceptable! Management should get new kitchen and waiting staff, then make sure Stuart trains them!.
I was staying at the Premier Inn and had to work late. The menu in my room mentioned that the restaurant stopped taking food orders at 9pm. I arrived at 8:45pm to be informed that they could close whenever they wanted. It was a strange attitude from someone working for a hotel chain. Nevertheless, luckily Bournemouth is filled with excellent dining options, even at late hours.
I had breakfast at Premier Inn twice during my stay and received a very friendly welcome both days. On the first day, I opted for the cooked breakfast with poached eggs, which were served hot and perfectly soft in the center. The next day, I chose the continental option, which had a full range of hot and cold choices, including juices, hot drinks, breads, and pastries. The staff did a great job clearing tables and providing attentive service. Overall, the breakfast experience was well-organized and friendly. Thank you!
