Easy to get a park and always open, especially good when you really don't want to cook and they have plenty of vegetables served with their dishes (unlike some places).
Every time we go to Loong Palace, we order Banquet B. For $23 per head, it's excellent value. You get chicken and corn soup (not just a tiny Chinese rice bowl, but a generous cereal bowl), a large spring roll, fried rice, combination bird's nest, sizzling beef, lemon chicken or sweet and sour (or half/half), a dessert (you can choose from banana fritters, lychee and ice cream, fried ice cream, pineapple fritters or ice cream with nuts I think we always order the banana fritters) and tea or coffee. Why do we always order the same thing? Well, apart from the good value, the nest of the bird's nest is done very well. Some other places we've been to have taken short cuts but at Loong, it's always done properly. I always love chicken and corn soup but when we took a friend who doesn't eat corn, they were happy to substitute the soup for wonton soup. When my mother in law wanted steamed rice instead of fried rice, they accommodated her without charging extra. The batter on the banana fritters is light and not too thick. None of the ridiculous banana flavoured syrup that we've had elsewhere. The owner, Jennifer, is very friendly and her daughter, who has now grown up and only works one day a week is very nice too. When we go there, we always have a chat and it feels like family friends. OK, so the banquet is more Aussie Chinese, but even us local born Chinese love it! We usually go there with a group of family or friends. We highly recommend that you go there.
We are regular diners at Loong Palace for three reasons great food, well priced in a friendly atmosphere. We have probably tried most dishes on an extensive menu covering Chinese, Malay and Thai cuisine. You can sample ‘aussie style” Asian dishes or have authentic meals, your choice, but always large portions, sometimes too much, quality ingredients and well cooked. We have never had a bad meal, though of course we have some favourites like the combination omelette and several others. Loong Palace is strictly BYO which helps keeps the cost down. It is family run and the atmosphere is welcoming and friendly with rapid and efficient service. Loong Palace is usually crowded and there isn’t much room, with laminated tables and hard chairs, but you go for the food, at very reasonable prices so don’t expect five star accommodation. If you want a quality meal, without breaking the bank served rapidly and efficient in the Eastern Suburbs, look no further than Loong Palace.
This is a delightful restaurant run by a family who know their regular customers and are always happy to advise and provide what you want. The food is varied and the menu is extensive. It's a great place to go on a Friday night and you always get service with a smile whether you eat in or take away. Jenny and her team are almost like family to many who eat at Loong Palace. A great place to eat and incredibly unexpensive.
This restaurant is the best spot for a quick and affordable meal that doesn't compromise on quality. The seafood basket is particularly outstanding and we always choose to get our takeout from here. The extra distance we travel is definitely worth it for the delicious and authentic meals they offer.
