After we have seen the location and environment, we have chosen ghare baire. for a change it was excellent. all ordered items were very well prepared and after our taste. one Ram...Prasad expands great hospitality and ensured the availability of products to our request. to mention some, kosha mangsho, tandoori huhn, chingri malaikari, gobindo bhog reis were quite satisfactory.
We had visited on 25th october ghare baire restaurant in shantiniketan, taking into account good customer reviews that we came across the internet. unfortunately we were served absolutely rotten lobster curry and fish fry in our lunch and felt very embarrassing among friends. that was the last thing we expected.
This caffe is located in a beautiful environment next to a gowt. cinema hall in bolpur. there are plenty of parking space. the building looks very pleasant and is kept clean, the toilets could be better maintained). they can choose to sit in the entrance or inside....listen to beautiful rabindra sangeet musical. the service is friendly, but our fresh lime water has been delayed so that we had to cancel the order. we have only decided for fish curry katla) thali rs 250 without gst. eating is delightful, especially the fish curry and cauliflower sweet curry. the Nolen-Gurer rosogolla was lovely. the place was packed and showed its popularity.
Ghare Baire is a popular restaurant in Bolpur Shantiniketan known for serving traditional Bengali cuisine. The restaurant has lovely decor and is suitable for both small group dining and parties. During our visit, we ordered a vegetarian thali along with fried pomfret and rehu. The thali included rice, lentils, potato with poppy seeds, pointed gourd with potato, fried eggplant, salad, chutney, and sweet date rosogullas for dessert. The rosogullas were delicious. While the food quality was average, the prices were on the higher side. However, customers pay for the ambiance and convenient location.
I really enjoy this restaurant. The food is great, but what stood out to me even more was the traditional Bengali attire of the staff and the beautiful plates and glassware. However, it is on the pricier side and may not be the best option for budget-conscious travelers.
