Having just moved to Illinois, we are looking for a good, go-to pizza place on a Friday night. Beggars Pizza does not make the cut--not inthe least. We ordered a personal and medium pizza plus dough bites. It cost $39.32. That's not a lot of food and I expectreally good food for that price. The pizza was only okay. Plenty of cheese and generous toppings. We ordered the thin crustwhich tough--really odd that thin crust would be tough, but it was. Overall, the pizza was lacking flavor. The dough bites weresimply nasty. You can see the grease soaking the boxes by the time I got home from picking it up. Interesting that the doughbites were dry except when you bite into them, that's when you taste nothing but grease. We actually could squeeze the greaseout of these onto a plate. This left a really bad taste with everyone. Beggars Pizza wasn't good enough for us give it a secondchance or second thought.
We hosted my sister?s baby shower at Beggars and it could not have been any better. The space was great, the food was a hit, and our server, Mike, made us feel like family. We had extended family in from all over the country, and everyone was beyondimpressed with the Midwest hospitality and how smoothly the entire event went. If you?re considering a venue for a family event,or a great meal with exceptional service, I could not recommend Beggars more.
After another 20 minutes, my pizza finally came out, and the manager didn't charge me for it. However, when I got home and took my first bite, I could tell right away that it was a frozen pizza, not one made fresh as promised. The cheese was terrible, and the crust was soggy. I frequently attend White Sox games, which feature Beggars Pizza—where they sell their frozen pizza slices at the stadium—and I usually don't have any issues with that location. I'm honestly shocked at how poorly this situation was handled.
This was my first visit, and I stopped by on a Saturday evening before the busy hours started. I was seated immediately, but it seemed like there weren’t enough wait staff. Ariana took my order; she was a lovely lady balancing her duties at the bar and serving tables. The pizza was fantastic! I’ll definitely come back!
The food and service were outstanding. I was in town for training and, coming from New York, I had to try some deep-dish pizza. It arrived perfectly, and our server really went above and beyond to make our experience special.
