The pizza is either burnt or bland, the staff are not friendly and seems like you’re inconveniencing them, and you’ll have to wait at least an hour to get...your food. Don’t keep your hopes up for good food. I went to this place twice and both times it was very disappointing. Hope this helps.
The owner says she's from Monte Cassino, Italy. Staff speaks Italian, German and English. Food is good and very affordable, and for folks working on Panzer Kaserne, the closest restaurant to post. Recommended.
It is close to panzer base, you can walk there easily. But the food is extra greasy and not really that tasty. We had pizza, pasta. We tried to get gelato, but it did it work out timing wise. We have lived in germany before...and go to way better itialian restaurant
I had heard there was some good Italian food to be had at Ristorante Monte Cassino, and having lived in Italy, I was looking forward to some fresh pasta. So, yes indeed, the pasta was not bad (I've had better, of course). The ragu was...very nice and properly cooked. But sadly that's where the positives on this review end. The wine I ordered with dinner, a house Chianti, was corked. When I noted it to my server, she argued with me that I was wrong and that the wine was perfectly fine. That discussion came up when I had to go find her to pay my bill. Never mind that I waited for almost minutes for someone to come and take my order after I arrived. Good food does not make up for a poor attitude and rude service. While the food may have been decent, it wasn't good enough to warrant a return visit. Trust me, there are better options for Italian food than eating here, including making the trip a few hours south to Italy! If you chose to dine here, don't expect fast or friendly service. If I find myself in that part of Germany again, I won't be eating there again!
I first dined here in and gave it a four star. In I dropped my rating after my second experience. Now, in I am back to giving it a four star review. This time, I was finally able to dine here with...my wife, which makes any meal better. In addition, the service this time around was very attentive with the meals coming out in a timely fashion. My wife opted for the pizza Diavolo, which I rated previously. I chose the pizza with salmon, spinach, and garlic. Both pizzas were perfectly cooked with a bit of burn on the crust. We each had a glass of the Pinot Grigio and enjoyed the return to the Cassino.
