フィードバックを提供するUncle Tai's is located in the Boca town center right next to Rocco Tacos and Brio, both of which are my favorites on Military Trail. The restaurant is nicely decorated compared to usual Chinese places and offers excellent cuisine with excellent service. I have been to Uncle Tai's only for lunch and usually order from the Lunch menu but browsing through the dinner menu the prices are pretty reasonable for the quality of the food served. My favorites are the Hot and Spicy Shrimp and the Garlic Shrimp, which i usually order with the Shrimp Fried Rice. The staff is very hospitable and they are always looking to accommodate the customers. Once we had an office meeting and showed up without a reservations and they got a table of 12 setup without any hesitation. The food and overall service is awesome. 4 stars but I have to go to Uncle Tai's for dinner one night.
This is old school Chinese American cuisine for snowbirds seeking boilerplate stuff like they remember from the old NYC neighborhood in the 1970s. It's a farce. This is not the Uncle Tai you remember. Move on. He left you for Houston in 1979. These are his descendants looking for a money grab. There is nothing Hunanese about it despite the marketing verbiage. There's nothing wrong with Chinese Am (which I love) but my god, is this place incredibly overpriced for dinner and being in this high end mall with valet parking is no excuse for gouging patrons considering the prices at the other restaurants here are more or less reasonable. I've had lunch here and it is ok. Nothing authentically Chinese on the menu, which is fine given the target demographic, but I can find equally good or better Chinese Am for a lot less elsewhere. Worst of all they do not permit diners to eat at the bar (singles, couples, in threesomes, whatever) which is what I found out tonight. That's a stupid business practice considering we are more likely to order drinks there than at a table as a single. Who the hell wants to eat at a table by themselves? I was told I could have a two top in the dining room if I waited 30 minutes. Crazy. I wasn't doing that when other couples were waiting. Didn't want beef in black bean sauce with a wonton soup that badly. I walked out and ate at Sushi Ray next door. At the bar, where they were happy to serve me, as a single diner, and I ordered an expensive sake in addition to my dinner. How do you say go shove it up your ass in Cantonese? Never coming here again.
Over the past 20 years our Asian food tastes evolved from Chinese to Thai and Sushi. Been years since I have been here. Invited for lunch by a friend who frequently dines here due to proximity to his office. The ambiance for a business lunch is wonderful. Quiet and refined. Beautiful table setting. I must agree with another Yelper that the staff is a bit cold. No real interaction. We ordered off the lunch menu. Tried the crispy beef and the ducked with plum sauce. Came with soup or salad. The tofu vege soup was delicious. The duck was also very good. Difficult to eat the beef with chop sticks because there was some grizzle that had to be cut by a knife. Certainly delicious. Sticker shock for a luncheon menu. Upper teens for entrees. I would say if you have a desire for Chinese food in a beautiful setting this may be the place for you.
Food Decent Price High Average Service Terrible!.... we had the most rude and condescending server who took our order ..... I guess his tuxedo bow was too tight and cut off the polite part of his brain! Rest of the servers were OK! This is such a beautiful restaurant and it's a pity that some of the staff is so ill mannered! When one spends so much money eating out the least one expects is polite service! I was so hoping to give a better review this time than my previous visit but things have not changed... sigh! MANAGEMENT NEEDS TO LOOK INTO THIS!
When my mother in law insisted we go to Uncle Tai's we were a little leary due to Yelp reviews. We were a party of five. We ordered wonton soup and egg rolls, both very good. Noodles served in usual Chinese restaurants are not served here. Then we ordered a spicy beef dish which everyone loved. The broccoli however was uncooked. Next we had a crispy whole red snapper which was amazing and delicious. Brown rice was ordered separately as was string beans. The fish was enough for three people. We were told they have Early Bird Specials if you come earlier. All in all the food was great as was the service.
