However, Elana Wu nearby is extremely overpriced and doesn’t really have the authentic taste of Chinese food anymore. For anyone in South Jersey looking for fresh, delicious meals with great service and fair prices, Hunan East is the best option available.
Hunan East is undoubtedly the best Chinese restaurant around. I've been a loyal customer since my early 20s. My first visit was back in the 80s when they were located in the Laurel Shopping Center. I followed them when they moved to Deptford, right across from Five Points Diner, and I continued to follow them to Turnersville. I'm basically a Hunan East fan! I absolutely adore their Chinese pizza and the Grandpa Chicken—though I think it was called that in the 80s (now known as General Tso's).
I truly love this Chinese restaurant! I always order the chicken and broccoli with spicy garlic sauce, and they never overcook their meals. This place has been around for years, and I sincerely hope it stays that way. I recommend this restaurant to everyone, no matter where you are! Dining here feels just like being in Chinatown!
I ate the General Tso chicken for lunch around 2pm and the chicken was not cooked all the way and the fried chicken sat in the sauce too long. I was referred to go there after coworker suggested it and it was disgusting.
