The Hop Black Mountain

This is a lovely place. Staff is professional. I was not wowed by the food. It was good food, nutritious fare, creatively assembled, with lots of vegan and veg options. Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Delicious food fantastic service in a fun, unique atmosphere. Great selection of craft cocktails too! Definitely worth trying if you're in Black Mountain.

We popped in at 5:30pm on a Friday and we're able to get an outdoor table (to accompany our dog). It was bright out but they had set up nice decorative shades. My wife had the shrub soda which was a delicious non-alcoholic drink and I had the dragon's blood which was a jalapeño-infused tequila and watermelon juice cocktail. Both were amazing. To start, we split a half root salad with the olive bread- this was the best part of the meal for me! The addition of jicama was really interesting and well done. And the olive bread was fantastic- well worth the additional $2. For mains, we both got the Cuban bowls, my wife had it with the jerked chicken (the better of the 2) and I had it with the pork. We both enjoyed them- hers was naturally a little more spicy but I added the house made curry hot sauce. We really enjoyed our meal and look forward to our next visit!

They handled my gluten and dairy allergies very well. Service was good and attentive. Views are lovely and the patio is a great place to spend the evening. I found the food to be a mixed bag. The vegan, gluten free cheesecake was fabulous, but my main dish was rather boring. A little under seasoned, a little just off. Perhaps I got a mediocre dish off the menu!

So cute, great service and loads of flavor. Trout tacos, yummy specialty cocktails with cardamom and savory mac n cheese pancakes! The bar is a sweet 'lil hideaway and plenty of shade in the patio. We will be back!
