Straightaway Cafe - Black Mountain

Short review: AWESOME Burger and Pommes in a beautiful location. If you ever drive the streets above Lake Lure or just live in the area, this is the place where you stop for a good meal. Long: Great food, though I only ordered her burgers and pomers every time I visited, but both times they were spectacular and one of the best I had. View is great from the terrace, and the interior has a beautiful homegrown feeling with many beautiful things to stare at the wall. Servers are usually pretty and personal, and the rustic feeling of the environment brings the experience home. It is a great stop when you travel north of Lake Lure, and a popular place for motorcycles to eat a bite when considering that it is right on Highway 9.

You have to check out The Straightaway! Worth the beautiful winding drive-that is part of the experience. My husband says it is a dream come true! Very kid/family friendly. Live music, fire pit, great craft beer on tap, kids' toys, volleyball, gorgeous outdoor seating in good weather and in the colder months the inside is very quaint and cozy. Food is very good, Hickory Nut Gap meat,some produce is grown onsite, great burgers, vegetarian and vegan options (great vegetarian house-made burger, vegan option Heart Bowl. You Must Come Experience it for yourself!! We are lucky enough to live nearby so we come frequently. Please come support this wonderful local venue!

One of the hidden treasures of western Carolina. The people, food, and atmosphere make this a favorite destination. Make sure you set aside at least a few hours when coming here because you won't want to leave. The buffalo chicken wrap is incredible! and all of the portion sizes are very generous. Great for kids too! Also, the Sunday morning yoga is a beautiful experience worth checking out.

I came here for the first time six years ago. Haven't been back recently (it's a 30 min drive) but came back today. Have never been disappointed. Very pretty setting, wonderful staff, great live music and an apple tree laden with apples just off the dining porch. Great place, and worth the drive every time!

This place has such a great vibe! Great staff, great food and the best cornbread I've ever tasted!
