Even though the place had 2-3 tables of people slowly eating they were more interested closing than in doing their job. This place will go nowhere, it smelt bad, the food they were serving others looked small and bland, it was pretty clear to us the only reason anyone went there is because they are right next to a hotel and there are no other eaterys within walking distance.
We found the name fascinating calling up memories of the street food we have enjoyed many times in Thailand. Thai street food and Thai restaurant food are two different things and NanaThai's attempt to offer both falls short.First the positives.Small but pleasant room (tables outside also but none taken the night we visited with friends). We booked but no need. Warm welcome, good service. Prices at the lower end. Take-aways very popular. Now the negatives. The menu is extensive and although well presented on illustrated platters it was so difficult to read what was on them we had to use our cell phone lights so we could order. We ordered deep fried sand crab and duck wraps as starters (the former forgettable the latter good) followed by green chicken curry, stir fried pork with garlic and ginger and pad Thai. Generous portions but the first two dishes were bland while the pad Thai, a staple of Thai street food, was surprisingly poor, despite including several good sized prawns. I had to add some chopped chilly to 'beef it up'BYO at $1.50 per head.NahaThai is off the beaten track and worth a visit if you're in the area and are not looking for classic Thai. If you are there are plenty of alternative venues available in the broader Maroochydore/Mooloolaba/Buderim area.
We went for a family birthday and were so glad we did, the food was fantastic! Super large portions, so tasty and the girl who served us was wonderful. She joked and laughed with us and I think it was her Dad who was the chef. Thanks for a great meal and service, we will definitely be back!
Had ginger and chilli duck. Very pleased with the size and quantity of the duck pieces. Soft shell crab also nice.
Perfect work lunches - good selection of curries, stir fries, and noodle dishes starting from $10. Good for sharing plates.I was there about 5 times and will come back for sure. Really good quality for a such quick service. Very reasonable prices. They are licences, but you also can bring your wine
