Windowbox Cafe - Birmingham

First time visit after promising myself for ages... Called in with my boss, we're both chefs at a busy venue in Sutton Coldfield.. I live very locally and have walked past this place so many times, always noticing how busy it is and certainly spot the queues at the weekends... Didn't order food, just came in for a quick coffee, didn't get a private table but sat on stools near the counter... Service was good and prompt, two coffees were served politely and swiftly, both excellent Although we weren't eating, my boss was looking at food as it came out for service and remarked on the quality and presentation, I'm assured it was excellent. The reason for the review?? It's something no venue can buy... The atmosphere!! Beautiful decor, friendly staff, every table seated with satisfied guests. Not too noisy but the level of bearable conversation throughout gave off a really nice vibe. Simple as that really... Any place can have all the bells and whistles and the finest teas, coffees and ingredients that money can buy but without atmosphere, it's all for nothing. As a resident of Sutton Coldfield and indeed Wylde Green it's great to see a place like this being supported and thriving, showing the corporates how it should be done... Excellent.

This used to be a lovely place. What happened? The staff seemed miserable and the quality of the food simply isn’t the same. My smashed avocado looked brown! Won’t be returning :

Great little spot that rarely disappoints. Owners always keen to engage in the interests of providing top quality food. Best eggs Benedict around. Excellent service.

Usually go to Wetherspoons for breakfast just down the road but decided to give the Windowbox a try despite it being three times the price. Was extremely good food and coffee and the place was kitted out in quirky decor. Was busy so obviously they have found their niche market and I will definitely return in the near future.

Love their coffee. Was able to sit outside being an unusual sunny day!! Staff are friendly and polite. service good
