Old Town Carvery - Birmingham

Very disappointing. It was just as cold inside as it was outside. My party ordered different meals. The fish chips looked the best was hot, the lasagne was tasty but was only warm a small portion. We ordered hot drinks, but they were luke warm when we received them. I'm glad there was a 2 for £20 on some of the meals, as in my opinion,it would have been very expensive for what we had

Booked for Sunday lunch, not a good experience! Food was cold, plates were dirty underneath sticky and clearly not washed properly, food was covered in pepper all you could taste! Toilets were dirty and smelly, dust and cobwebs everywhere and cold. Waitress asked if we enjoyed we so no she apologized but that was it no offer to replace meals that we clearly had left, why ask if all is ok if your not going to do anything about our experience! Would not return to this pub.

A real shame tbh, over the years I’ve been to many events here that have been great but it felt like not much thought had gone into the Oktoberfest event this year … firstly, fantastic music !! The band was excellent !! Real good !! . Sadly tho the beer was a miss this year, having no wheat beer at an Oktoberfest event is a bit rubbish tbh. Also, the bar selling the German beer for the German event closes hours before the event itself closes so everyone’s left to go to the normal bar to get a normal pint of moretti or carling… also, the security to event that checks tickets left around 9/9:30 so anyone could just walk in, made me feel buying a ticket was a waste of time really. The food system was a nightmare, food took wayyyy too long to be cooked, some friends waiting an hour in the que away from there friends for a sausage.. a simple system where you take away a device that beeps when your food is ready would of solved this … sadly won’t return

We popped in for a drink after The Big Birmingham Bake on Saturday and ended up staying for the rest of the night. Music and atmosphere were spot on and the food was delicious and really good value. Will definitely be coming back.
