I ordered one in this place, and it was drawn pieces of meat from a steam table. It must be there all day. I give them props that they Cheezewhiz (or at least one version), but then they asked if I wanted salad and tomatoes! Now there's nothing wrong with a steak sub with salad and tomatoes, maybe a few onions and whatever... That's not a PHILLY! It's a Steak Sub... All in all, the sub (not a cheese steak) was quite terrible, and the rest of the menu was less than inspiring. quite expensive for what you also get.
I visited Downtown Subs for lunch last week, and unfortunately, I found a hair in my sandwich. When I brought it to their attention, I was told there was no way it could have come from the staff. At that time, two women were working behind the counter, but neither of them offered assistance or even suggested making a new sandwich for me.
This place clearly doesn't understand what a true Philly cheesesteak is. I've noticed this trend everywhere I go. A genuine Philly cheesesteak consists of shaved sirloin, cooked to order, topped with Cheez Whiz, all on an Italian roll—nothing more. When I ordered one here, I received chunks of stew meat that had clearly been sitting in a steam table all day. I will give them credit for using Cheez Whiz (or at least a version of it), but then they had the audacity to ask if I wanted lettuce and tomato. While there's nothing wrong with a steak sub topped with lettuce, tomato, maybe some onions, and other toppings, THAT'S NOT A PHILLY! It's just a steak sub. Overall, the sub (which was definitely not a cheesesteak) was quite disappointing, and the rest of the menu didn't inspire much confidence either. Plus, it felt overpriced for what you get.

When I brought it to the staff's attention, they dismissed my concerns, claiming there was nothing they could do. There were two women behind the counter, and neither offered assistance nor provided me with a replacement sandwich.
